The F word

FoundationSearch (the firm behind BIG Online, my favourite funding source database) is offering a series of webinars on topics such as developing a case for support, prospect management, and the upcoming Secrets of Successful Grant Writing on July 31; it’s not too expensive, and there’s an early bird price through July 24. These sessions are being given by Shadi Mogadimi, an early Toronto coordinator of the Canada Council’s Equity Office Stand Firm program. Shadi’s smart, experienced, and Canadian based; I’m looking forward to dialing in to her next one.

Nonprofit Tech 2.0 has a useful post on tweaking your “Donate Now” process to maximize online donations and convert donors into Facebook Fans, Twitter and Pinterest Followers, and blog subscribers. Trust me, you do not want to be making any of these “five common mistakes” in your online fundraising – which, according to Nonprofit Tech’s Heather Mansfield, made her feel as if “the Web had never gone social and I was in a time warp of online fundraising best practices circa 2005.” Good tip: get someone on staff to donate $10 to your own company at least twice a year to gain first-hand experience of your own “Donate Now” process.
